The Movement Sensing System

Introduction

The movement sensing system is one of the senses of the intelligent stage. It consists of a very fast frame grabber, a computer, and a set of cameras. The computer looks in demarcated areas within the video field and determines what activity is occurring. Activity can consist of the "presence" of an object (or person) of a particular brightness or color; or the "motion" of that object. Once the object is detected, various measurements about the object can be extracted such as size, speed, acceleration, or location. This information is then used within the structure of the intelligent stage to control the various media.
